When asked about his approach to preparing and maintaining his game with precision through the course of his career and life as an athlete and legend, Kobe Bryant replied,

“I always tried to train and prepare intelligently, but as I got older my pre- and post-game routine evolved. When you’re younger, your work on explosive things, and as you get older you focus shifts to preventative measures. That’s all part of the course. The only aspect that can’t change, though, is that obsession. You have to enter every activity, every single time, with a want and need to do it to the best of your ability.”

After 2020, there’s one question that’s keeping my attention most -- and that is: “after 2020, who are you?”

For me, like so many others, COVID disrupted mostly my fitness routine and how I make a living. In the process, I was confronted with the realities of how much deeper having a gym regimen fit for my life, truly has an impact on my overall health and mental wellness.

I've always been in a love and hate, yet passionate situationship with fitness, and after 2020, all I want to focus on is helping myself and others develop a growth mindset to live a healthier and happier life pamoja. 

And if you’re wondering, what “Pamoja” means; it means, “Together” in Swahili. I’m making it my life goal to pay homage to this timeless African proverb;

“If you want to go fast go alone, and if you want to go far go together.” 

I've created the Pamoja Fitness platform to help every body* develop a fitness and wellness growth mindset and start actively, overcoming their fear of the gym and any other physical exercise on their journey to being and staying fit for life. My goal with the 12-Week PamojaFit* Challenge is to provide a safe space that allows members to learn and begin mastering the fundamentals to boost their performance, jump-start a plateau, or simply start from day 1.

I'm not a certified personal trainer (not yet anyways ;-)) or fitness expert -- I just have a passion for wellness and doing good in the world with lots to share. After years of definitely being a chubby grade-schooler, and then the college freshman 15lbs weight gain, which resurfaced as the pandemic 20lbs. So the opportunity to now join Tonal — the smartest home gym, and partner with Nordstrom Dallas Galleria to help you #beyourstrongest excites me most. I won’t lie being 31 and working at the mall again was an initial self-critical pause for me, but allowing myself to get out of my own way is reminding me how fortunate I am to align my passion for health and fitness, with my calling to empower, encourage, uplift, inspire, and motivate people to use our incredible skill sets in different seasons of our lives to fulfill our purpose. So whether it’s promoting Tonal the hands-down best in-home workout machine set to disrupt the connected fitness and personal training industry, or my 12-Week PamojaFit* challenge, I’m reminded to stay focused on my calling now more than ever and remaining flexible with where God puts me.

I've truly learned by doing and picked up my first p90x set and dumbbell seriously in 2009. Since then, I've tried everything from keto, paleo, vegetarian to pescatarian, bulking, shredding, holistic wellness trends, and treatments out there, all to maximize my potential and create a body, mind, and life I love. The things I've learned from these experiences are why I’m so passionate about helping every body crush their goals and enjoy a happier, healthier, and stronger life for years to come.
